One way to prevent exploitation like this is to include actual gay guys in the production of things like this, so that there is some measure of accountability. Gay guys are more than just people who engage in a taboo sexual act, and every time gay men are portrayed this way - only through the lens of sex - it's just ever so slightly mean. But it's still kind of exploitive in the way everyone is using gay sex as the premise for laughs. It's not old school homophobia, obviously. But watching a straight guy (correct me if I'm wrong) get laughs about gay sex scenes feels like old school homophobia.
But on another level, there's an element of mockery here that's kind of unkind. This will be an unpopular opinion! I 100% believe that all of this was done with good intentions and on one level I enjoyed this.
